In Spring of 2010 I embarked on my first journey to Japan all by myself for a semester term. While I was there I began to have difficulty walking and moving and as time went on I had trouble getting dressed and grooming. I had many mishaps such as limiting what my friends were able to do will I accompanied them, collapsing in a fit of tears in the supermarket and having to be driven back home, and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. After many doctor's visits and one month remaining in my term, I was sent home. I slept in a dorm room and had no insurance, so I could only afford vicodin and flexoril to help with the pain. My body healed mostly on it's own and I went to work on the Disney College Program. During my stay, I reinjured myself and within a few months I had to go home again. It wasn't until this summer semester, after finally getting insurance, I was able to go to physical therapy at Evergreen Clinic in Big Rapids, MI. At this time I am fit and feeling great and I am keeping up my exercise regimen. At times it seemed like I would never get any better, but I pushed through literally crippling pain and I am preparing to return to Japan on August 31st. While there has been slight hiccups with financial aid, I'm pushing through and I'm determined to go back and make it through a semester like I intended.
